Disney Cruise Line today announced dates for the maiden voyage of its fourth ship, the 1,250-cabin Disney Fantasy, and says it will start taking bookings for the vessel on Wednesday.
The line says the sister ship to the soon-to-debut Disney Dream will begin sailing on April 7, 2012 with a seven-night voyage out of Port Canaveral, Fla., to the western Caribbean.

Like the Disney Dream, which enters service in January, the Disney Fantasy will offer a "water coaster" on its top deck and other unusual innovations.

The Disney Fantasy will sail alternating seven-night itineraries to the eastern and western Caribbean that will include a stop at Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

Disney also will begin taking bookings Wednesday for 2012 cruises on the Disney Dream and its two other ships, the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic.

The Disney Dream in 2012 will be sailing three-, four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, while the Disney Wonder will sail to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles.

To start the 2012 season, the Disney Magic will sail alternating eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.

The Disney Fantasy's seven-night eastern Caribbean itinerary will include stops in St. Maarten and St. Thomas. The western Caribbean itinerary will include calls in Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Rates for the Disney Fantasy voyages start at $959 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy, not including taxes and fees.
